DC United continued to revamp their struggling squad Tuesday, acquiring Luis Silva from Toronto FC in return for an undisclosed amount of allocation money.
United keeps adding young talent to a squad that sits dead last in MLS. The University of California, Santa Barbara product was selected with the fourth pick in the 2012 MLS draft. The 24 year old midfielder has five goals and seven assists so far in his short career of 44 first team appearances. He will be available for selection in DC's friendly against Chivas de Guadalajara on Friday.
Toronto deemed Silva's services expendable with an apparent imminent arrival of new attacking talent to the squad.
This is the team's second acquisition in less than a week, with United also selecting US U23 international Jared Jeffery in a waiver draft last Wednesday.
