SAUNDERS SUFFERS TORN ACL

PREVIEWS
KRIS LINDSAY - Tuesday, July 16, 2013
Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Josh Saunders will miss the rest of the regular season with a torn ACL, a team spokesperson told FV Monday.

The keeper injured his knee Saturday in an attempt to clear the ball and appeared to land awkwardly. He initially attempted to continue playing, but was replaced at halftime.

The Claret and Cobalt were already playing without keeper Nick Rimando, who is currently with the United States national team featuring in the Gold Cup.

The club will need to look to MLS newcomer Jeff Attinella in Rimando's absence. The former NASL keeper of the year received his first minutes in Major League Soccer in Saturday's 3-0 victory over FC Dallas.
